Wonderland Afternoon Tea at The Shelbourne
Alongside the essential elements of a traditional afternoon tea – the selection of impeccably dainty sandwiches, homemade buttermilk scones with clotted cream and jams, all accompanied by a tea of choice from the range of twenty-one loose leaf teas or one of The Shelbourne specialty coffees – the menu for the Wonderland Afternoon Tea inspired by Alice Through the Looking Glass, also includes an edible pocket watch!
The Pocket Watch, a decorated salted caramel macaroon fits neatly with other Alice-themed sweet treats such as a Mushroom Mess, a delectable blend of lemon curd, crème chantilly, mixed berry compote and meringue and a Queen of Hearts, a vanilla yoghurt mousse with a raspberry and passion fruit centre.
Generations of Dubliners and guests from beyond have enjoyed afternoon tea at The Shelbourne – a particularly beloved tradition.
It is never too soon to introduce the younger members of the family to this much loved tradition, so The Shelbourne’s Children’s Afternoon Tea is available as a specially-designed treat for all youngsters too.
Younger guests have a slightly different selection of sweet treats in their Children’s Afternoon Tea, including a Mushroom Meringue, a Queen of Hearts strawberry shortbread and strawberry jam surprise.
Available from May 18th, Wonderland Afternoon Tea menu at The Shelbourne runs until 4th September.
