The distinctive Horseshoe Bar at The Shelbourne turns 60 on Sunday November 26th, celebrating being a meeting point over the years for politicians and journalists, sportsmen and movie stars, visiting dignitaries and local personalities.
Originally designed in 1957 by legendary Dublin architect Sam Stephenson, its characteristic look remains the same, down to the enlarged details of Hogarth prints, the pristine white counter top and the shining brass. If the rich red walls of this fabulous room could talk they would have some fascinating stories to tell!
The Horseshoe Bar celebrates this significant birthday in style on Sunday November 26th, with a golden hour of live 50’s jazz in the bar from 6 to 7 p.m. from crooner Cary Posavitz, raise a glass to the Horseshoe’s big day, alongside a selection of 1950s-themed classic cocktails, available for €14 recreated by expert mixologist Sean McGoldrick and his team.
Featuring a Manhattan and a Martinez, an Old Fashioned and a Tom Collins, this is a cocktail list of drinks Don Draper would recognise, a selection of time-honoured standards made with contemporary ingredients to bring them bang up to date – just like The Horseshoe, the classics never go out of fashion!
Celebrations of The Horseshoe’s 60th birthday on Sunday November 26th, feature live jazz for the toasting hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and classic cocktails available throughout the day from the 1950s-inspired list for €14.
